Wieder einmal habe ich lange gegoogelt um so viele Tests, Beispielbilder und Videos wie möglich zu finden. Das Ergebnis ist diese Linksammlung zum Sigma 24-105mm f/4. Wer an Sigma-Ausrüstung interessiert ist, sich aber langwieriges Googeln ersparen möchte sollte sich auch meine restlichen Linksammlungen anschauen: Sigma 60mm f/2.8, 17-70mm f2.8-4 Contemporary, 18-35mm f1.8, DP3 Merrill, 35mm f1.4 Art.

„The Sigma 24-105mm ƒ/4 DG OS HSM “A” is a solid addition to their already-stellar lineup of lenses produced under their new Global Vision design strategy. The Sigma 24-105 is a very versatile lens with a great focal length range, a constant — yet not super-fast– ƒ/4 aperture and image stabilization. Optically, the Sigma produced impressive results, with sharp images on both full- and sub-frame lenses. While vignetting was a bit strong in the corners, particularly at the shorter focal lengths on full-frame bodies, chromatic aberration was quite well-controlled. The biggest downside to this lens is its size and weight. Compared to its Canon and Nikon counterparts, the Sigma 24-105mm is significantly heavier and physically larger. The appeal of it being a one-lens solution with its useful zoom range is lessened by its bulkiness. Tipping the scale at nearly 2 lbs., it’s a serious lens, more than a casual user wanting a versatile walk-around zoom might want to carry around over their shoulder all day.”

“Once again the Sigma company proved they can produce a high quality lens. Although it is not always able to compete successfully against its brand-name rivals (failing to do so when it comes to the chromatic aberration, vignetting or autofocus), in most categories it still gets higher notes. It gives you sharper images in the frame centre, it is more even and provides useful images also on a very demanding edge of full frame without the necessity of stopping down the aperture. For a lens with such parameters it is a huge achievement; neither the Canon nor the Nikkor managed to perform so well and here the Sigma truly deserves a standing ovation for its performance…To sum up: if you buy the Sigma 24-105 mm OS you will enjoy that lens for sure. The question is how many people decide to do so when the brand-name competition is so strong and the prices in that segment -very similar. The time will show…”

“The Sigma 24-105 mm f/4 Art in image quality does as well as the Canon EF 24-105 mm L. The Sigma Art wins on points over the professional Canon L lens. At the longest focal lengths, the sharpness of the Sigma is higher and the bokeh is a bit higher than the Canon. Distortion and vignetting are both clearly visible and are best corrected in Photsohop or Lightroom. At the time of this test, the lens correction profiles for Photoshop and Lightroom were not yet available, but in general the correction profiles for Sigma lenses are very good. The differences in image quality are so small that we think that image quality is no reason to switch. The Sigma 24-105 mm Art not only looks more modern and more distinguished, in terms of build quality, this lens beats the Canon EF 24-105 mm L.”
“With their latest lens releases, Sigma appear to be changing their past image of a manufacturer of lenses that are less expensive than the major camera manufacturers, instead concentrating on lenses that deliver performance to rival the best available. This lens certainly is capable of producing outstanding clarity, at a price that is comparable to those of camera manufacturers own lenses. It should certainly be considered as a viable alternative if you’re in the market for a lens of this specification.”
“The new Sigma 24-105mm F4 DG OS HSM offers a versatile focal range whilst being tack-sharp from 24mm to 80mm, particularly in the centre of the frame. Sharpness at 105mm isn’t quite as good, or at the edges of the frame throught the zoom range, but overall the Sigma 24-105mm F4 DG OS HSM is one sharp lens. Vignetting at wide-open apertures, chromatic aberrations at the edges of the frame, and some barrel distortion at 24mm are the only other real optical issues of note, something that similar lenses from other manufacturers also tend to suffer from. Build quality is excellent, with the brass lens mount and sober all-black design adding to the high-quality feel, and Sigma have even generously included a very good lens hood and padded case. It is a little heavier than its main rivals though. Focusing was very quick on the Canon EOS 5D Mark III that we tested the lens with, and manual focus over-ride at any time is a great feature, as is the effective built-in optical image stabilisation system. Even the price of the Sigma 24-105mm F4 DG OS HSM is attractive, undercutting the rival lenses from Canon and Nikon (Sony don’t currently offer an equivalent zoom lens). We can strongly recommend the new Sigma 24-105mm F4 DG OS HSM as a well-built standard zoom lens that delivers superb results on the latest full-frame cameras.”
